The commands for the battle screen is the following:
[8] - move arrow up.*
[2] - move arrow down.*
[4] - target enemy to left.*
[6] - target enemy to right.*
[z] - accept key.
[x] - cancel key.
*You can use your numeric keypad also, make sure num locks is on.
Battle Help
During the game, you will encounter enemies in your travels. Some of them will engage you in battle, and this section shows you how to defend yourself. When you are in battle, the screen will look something like this:

The green arrow points to an important part of the screen. Every person in battle have a progress bar below them showing their readiness level. The speed in which it increase by depends on the person's speed, and when their readiness level reaches 100%, that person can execute a turn in combat.
The enemies are located at the top part of the screen and your party is located at the bottom part. The enemy with their name underneath their images is your targeted enemy. All your single attacks and spells will be toward them. To change your targeted enemy, use the [4] and the [6] keys on your keyboard.
Command Menu
When one of your character's readiness level reaches 100%, he or she can execute a turn in combat. A command menu similar to the one below will appear next to your character:

Use the [8] and [2] keys to navigate the arrows, and [z] as your accept key. To go back, simply use [x], your cancel key. To skip your character's turn, use [x] at the main battle menu. Here is a brief explanation of what each command does:
Attack - attack targeted enemy with your current weapon.
Magic - view a list of spells your character can use.
Skills - view a list of skills your character can use.
Items - view a list of items your character can use.
Equipment - change your equipment in battle.
Retreat - attempt to retreat from battle.
Other Notes
Your readiness level will decrease after you executed a turn. The percent it decreases depends on lots of factors, your weapon's attack speed, character's attack speed, and type of attack.
Some items, skills, or spells can be used toward one member of your party. You will be prompt to select which member of your party you want to use it toward. When you are prompt, use the [8] and [2] keys to selected your party member.
Getting hit with a bludgeon weapon can knock the wind out of your character which will decrease your readiness level. Same applies to your enemies.
