You can choice what race your character is. Race does not effect the spell/skills or weapon/armor you use. Race will effect how your character gains strengths. Pick your race carefully, because you cannot change it in the middle of the game.

Humans does not excel in anything, but they also have no weaknesses. Humans are suitable for any class you want to train into.

Elves are highly intelligent creatures that usually live in the forest. They are small, but very dexterousness and agile. Elves are not very strong, so the will not be able to train into certain classes (Ex. Warrior).

Dwarves might be short , but they are very strong. They have above average strength and endurance, which makes them excellent warriors.

Halfling are half elf, half humans. They retain some traits from their human and elf ancestors which makes them the most flexible class.
